Digi-Pas DWL9000XY Review: Dual-Axis Inclination and PRO PC Records

The Digi-Pas DWL9000XY is a two-axis digital inclinometer for readers who need simultaneous X/Y angle readings and may also want a PC record of those readings. The useful buying question is not whether its smallest displayed increment sounds impressive; it is whether the standalone instrument, documentation, software path, and supplied paperwork match your measurement workflow.

Supplier composite of DWL9000XY instrument and illustrative PC and phone screens
Supplier listing illustration: the instrument is shown with PC and phone screens, not measurements produced in this review. Those screens do not verify current host support, mobile feature parity, software activation, or measurement performance. The laptop and phone are not in the operating manual’s six-item package list and are not established as included.[2][6]

What this instrument is

Digi-Pas describes the DWL9000XY as a 2-axis ultra-precision inclinometer. Its maker page lists simultaneous dual-angle display, a colour graphic display, USB or Bluetooth connectivity, and PC Sync Professional software for remote acquisition and data logging.[1] The operating manual identifies the model as “2-Axis Ultra Precision Inclinometer,” DWL9000XY, and documents a colour TFT LCD, four AAA 1.5 V batteries or USB power, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth connectivity.[2]

That makes it a different proposition from a single-axis level: the appeal is the two-axis view on one instrument, not merely a finer-looking number. It can be considered for prepared, nonhazardous bench or fixture records where a reader wants a displayed angle in two directions and, separately, a documented PC capture workflow.

Standalone display versus PC records

The LCD is the simpler part of the decision. The manual documents single-axis and dual-axis interfaces, a HOLD function that pauses the screen, an Absolute Level setting, and an Alternate Zero setting for a chosen reference angle.[2] Those are display and reference features; they are not a promise that a particular fixture, machine, floor, or structure will meet a tolerance.

The PC route is a separate layer. The PC Sync manual describes live X- and Y-axis values, a bull’s-eye display, selectable time units, sample count and capture duration, a measurement table with sample number, X value, Y value, date and time, and Excel saving.[3] This is useful if the deliverable is an X/Y angle record for human review, but this review includes no software installation, activation, or data-capture test. Published capture controls do not establish sampling behavior, missing-data handling, interpolation, or record integrity. It also does not establish feature parity across every current host or download route.

The current maker download catalog exposes separate DWL-9000XY PC-Sync entries labeled “Dongle: v1.17” and “Redemption: v1.28.”[4] Those labels identify exposed download routes, not a verified installation, current license state, or a tested software version. The PC manual is version 2.11 and recommends Windows 10 or 11, .NET Framework 3.5 for 32-bit Windows, .NET Framework 4.0 for 64-bit Windows, Excel 2020 or above, and an internet connection for certain functions.[3] Treat software availability and software readiness as two different purchase checks.

Published numbers, read carefully

The maker and operating manual publish a single-axis range of 0 to 7200 arcsec, a 2-axis range of 0 to 3600 arcsec, and a resolution of 0.2 arcsec (≤ 1 μm/M).[1][2] The manual separately lists nominal accuracy of ±0.6 arcsec from 0 to ±100 arcsec and ±1.2 arcsec at other angles.[2] Resolution is the stated display increment; it is not an achieved uncertainty, repeatability result, or proof that a complete measurement setup delivers that value.

The manual also states a measurement speed of ≤25 seconds.[2] That should not be read as a logging rate or as a guarantee about the time behavior of a PC capture. The maker page describes a 3-point contact base and dual-angle graphs, but neither description establishes flatness uncertainty, vibration diagnosis, or a pass/fail decision for a real installation.[1]

What the documented package says

The operating manual’s package table lists one DWL9000XY inclinometer, one set of a Certificate of Calibration, four AAA batteries, one 3-meter USB 2.0 cable, one PC Sync Redemption Card, and three M5 button-head screws.[2] This is the manufacturer’s documented package content, not an independently observed shipment. The manual does not list a dongle in that table.

The selected offer names the DWL9000XY + PRO Software and shows a cart-enabled listing from DIGIPAS TECHNOLOGIES INC.[6] The offer’s included-software language is consistent with the manual’s “Professional Edition (Included)” entry, but license validity, activation success, and delivery of any particular physical item remain unverified.[2][6]

Calibration language and buying limits

Digi-Pas’s calibration page presents samples of manufacturer and external calibration certificates, including a DWL9000XY entry.[5] A sample page is not the calibration data for the individual unit you may receive. The selected offer distinguishes the included manufacturer certificate from a NIST-traceable certificate with data requested separately.[6] The offer says a manufacturer’s calibration certificate is included, while the cited material does not let this review verify the identity, contents, date, or current validity of a particular certificate.[6]

The manufacturer’s family accuracy paper describes Absolute Level as setting a reference to Earth Datum.[7] The operating manual separately describes Alternate Zero as measuring relative angles against a chosen reference.[2] Neither reference choice establishes third-party certification or a safety or tolerance verdict.

The manual specifies +10°C to +40°C operation; its −20°C to +60°C figure is a storage range, not a measurement permission.[2] It calls for clean contact surfaces and sufficient initial stabilization, with a green thermometer indicating readiness, and warns that poorly regulated USB power can affect performance.[2] Those conditions belong in the planned workflow, not just the specification checklist.

Who should consider it

Consider the DWL9000XY if simultaneous two-axis display is the main reason to buy, the LCD can serve as a standalone reading surface, and a PC record is valuable enough to justify checking the software and license path before relying on it. The published specification is detailed, but the practical value depends on the actual unit, contact surfaces, reference choice, host setup, and the record you need to retain.

Be cautious if you need independently demonstrated uncertainty for a particular setup, a current certificate with data, guaranteed application behavior, or a documented result for a live machine, laser, building, or safety-critical installation. Those are outcomes this source-based review does not establish.

The buying decision

The DWL9000XY’s strongest buyer-facing distinction is straightforward: one instrument presents two inclination axes, while the PRO software is intended to turn those readings into a PC-based capture and analysis workflow.[1][3] Buy it for that documented workflow potential, not for an implied guarantee of achieved metrology. Before committing, confirm the exact certificate supplied with the unit, the redemption or dongle route applicable to your order, and whether your intended host meets the manual’s stated requirements.

Sources

The operating manual is Rev1.11, 20 physical pages. The PC Sync document is a separate 22-page manual marked version2.11; that label is not the installed application version. The manufacturer’s package table was checked on its native page where text extraction omitted the certificate row. These documents do not identify the revision, license validity, or certificate delivered with an individual order.
