Labnet H5600 Review: Fixed-Speed Tube Rotation, Adjustable Angle

The Labnet H5600 Revolver is a compact laboratory rotator for professional buyers considering fixed-speed tube rotation rather than a centrifuge, vortex mixer, or pipette. This review covers the 120V model, not the separate 230V EU or UK versions.

The useful distinction is that the H5600 changes the angle of its rotisserie, while its speed stays fixed. Labnet lists a 0–90° adjustable mixing angle and independent adjustment of the two rotisserie halves. The maker describes positions from vertical/end-over-end tumbling through gentle horizontal mixing, with intermediate positions available. [1] That is angle and geometry control—not variable-speed control.

For the 120V version, the documented electrical specification is 120V~, 60Hz, 0.04A, and 3.6W, with a fixed speed of 18 rpm. The 230V models are separately listed at 20 rpm, so do not treat that figure as interchangeable with this 120V offer. [1][2]

Illustration from the selected H5600 offer, shown with several tube formats. It does not establish the holder or tubes in the carton: Labnet lists the H5600-02 microtube holder as supplied, with larger holders separate.[1][3]

What comes with the H5600

The supplied H5600-02 rotisserie is for 36 positions of 1.5/2.0 mL tubes. Labnet identifies it as the included accessory in the product specification and manual. [1][2] The retail title says “36 mL x 1.5/2.0 mL Tube,” but that wording should not be read as a 36 mL tube-capacity claim; the maker’s wording identifies the holder as “36 x 1.5/2.0 mL tubes.” [1][3]

Other holders are separate accessories, not an all-in-one universal fit. H5600-15 is listed for 10 × 15 mL tubes or 12 × 5/7 mL tubes, while H5600-50 is for six 50 mL tubes. [1][2] Confirm the holder you need before ordering, especially if your workflow uses anything other than 1.5/2.0 mL tubes.

How the adjustment works

The two supplied rotisserie plates can be set independently, allowing two motion geometries at once. With the plates aligned with the shaft, the manual describes end-over-end tumbling; at a right angle, it describes gentle mixing. [2] Those are manufacturer descriptions of the motion, not a promise of measured uniformity, sample viability, repeatability, or a particular mixing result.

Operation is intentionally simple: the manual documents an On/Off switch. It does not document a timer, app, run logging, or programmable speed control. [2] If your protocol requires timed runs or recorded operating history, plan independent timekeeping and manual operating notes rather than assuming the rotator provides it.

Environment and specification conflicts

The maker specification and instruction manual state a 5°C to 40°C temperature range. The manual also states up to 80% relative humidity at 31°C, decreasing linearly to 50% relative humidity at 40°C, indoor use up to 2,000 m, pollution degree 2, and IP21 protection. [1][2]

The maker’s descriptive copy and the retail description say +4°C to 55°C and mention cold rooms and incubators. [1][3] That conflicts with the maker’s own specification table and the manual, so this review does not grant permission to use the H5600 at 4°C or 55°C. Ask Labnet or the seller to resolve the conflict for your exact unit and intended environment before relying on those temperatures.

The manual labels the equipment for non-residential use and identifies FCC Class A compliance. [2] That is an important buyer boundary: do not assume a home or residential setting has the same electromagnetic-compatibility status as the manufacturer’s intended commercial or professional context.

Professional-use boundaries

The manual warns against using the rotator near water, exposing it to aggressive solvents, or mixing flammable or explosive samples. It says hazardous samples should be mixed only in appropriate containment vessels. [2] This review is limited to prepared, nonhazardous professional-sample workflows; it does not establish hazardous-sample suitability.

Nothing here establishes clinical, blood, assay, infection-control, sterility, biological-safety-cabinet, decontamination-efficacy, achieved-rpm, or mixing-uniformity performance. The retail page uses examples such as molecular biology, biochemistry, clinical, and histochemistry, but those examples are not evidence that the unit is validated for a particular clinical or regulated process. [3]

For cleaning, the manual’s instruction is to unplug the unit and use a soft cloth dampened with water; it cautions against aggressive or abrasive cleaners. [2] Cleaning should not be presented as sterilization or validated decontamination. Before use, check the shipment for damage, verify the bottom label’s serial number, product number, and electrical rating, confirm the cord matches a grounded outlet, and confirm that the H5600-02 holder is present. [2] Those are inspection steps, not claims that a particular shipment has already been verified.

The buying decision

Buy the H5600 when your main need is a compact, fixed-speed 18 rpm rotator with adjustable 0–90° geometry and the supplied 1.5/2.0 mL holder. It is a reasonable fit for controlled, nonhazardous professional sample preparation where changing the motion angle matters more than changing speed.

Pause before ordering if you need a 15 mL or 50 mL format, a timer, variable speed, home-use EMC assurance, validated clinical or sterile handling, or a temperature range beyond the maker’s 5–40°C documentation. Check the current 120V offer and the supplied holder before ordering. [3]

Source provenance: this review uses the Labnet product page, the selected ordinary offer, and the six-page Labnet Revolver Rotator instruction manual, document CLSLN-AN-1044DOC REV1. The manual’s cited technical and safety passages were reviewed from physical pages 3–5, printed pages 1–3; the shipped revision for a buyer’s unit was not independently verified.
